Dear Readers...

In this issue of the Journal, you will find three original research articles, and three reviews.

The first article is on the use of herbal supplement, and it was submitted by Sarikaya et al. This study discusses the most commonly used herbs and herbal use by gender, and in relation to particular diseases.

The second article in this issue is on the working conditions of dental technicians in Denizli. In this study, submitted Yurdasal et al., the authors concluded that long working hours, smoking, insufficient indoor ventilation and insufficient use of protective equipment use were common health hazards for dental technicians.

The last original article is on environmental health standards. This study was submitted by Babayigit et al. It was carried out in primary schools in Ankara. This study revealed that many aspects of environmental health status should be improved at the Primary Schools in Kecioren District.

The first of the reviews is on adolescent pregnancies, it was submitted by Oner and Yapici. In this study, it was stated that low education levels of females, and unemployment, a lack of risk awareness were important risk factors for adolescent pregnancies.

The other review is on children nourished by advertisement. It was submitted by Caman and Bosi. The study presents a strong advocacy for the necessity of an international public health law on food marketing similar to the convention on tobacco control.

The last review is on Smoking Habits and Expenditure in Turkey. It was submitted by Aydin. In this study, it was that smoking rates are very high and the consequence will be an ever increasing public health issue in Turkey.

Dear authors and readers...

We think that we have made some important editorial progress. Submissions to the TJPH are increasing, and length of the reviewing process is decreasing. Dr. Ebru Turhan and Dr. Tayyar Sasmaz have joined the editorial board of the journal. They are the layout editors.

However, we have a lot of work that still needs to be done. One is to join the scientific indexes. Therefore, our journal will be published three times a year from the beginning of 2010. We are working on this issue. We would like to thank all of you for your supports, and we are expecting it to continue.

We hope you enjoy this issue of the Turkish Journal of Public Health. The editors of the TJPH would like to thank all the authors and reviewers.
